FOSTAC-FSSAI training on “Advance Manufacturing and COVID”

Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics is organizing an open house FOSTAC-FSSAI training on “Advance Manufacturing and COVID” on June 23 from 9.30 am to 5.30 Pm. The institute is empaneled as a training partner (PAN India) under Food Safety Certification & Training (FoSTaC) programme of FSSAI. This is an initiative by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

In the view of addressing the training needs of all types of food businesses at various levels in the food system, a total of 19 courses at three levels, basic, advanced and special have been developed by FSSAI. The courses are currently delivered through a wide network of training partners, trainers and assessors like Gokhale Institute. The development of such a large training capacity in the country under the FoSTaC is an evidence of the fact that the country is undergoing a major transformation as far as food safety is concerned.

The main objectives of the program are as below:

  1. To enhance the availability of skilled/ trained manpower in the food
  2. Creating an improved environment of self-compliance to FSS Act, Rules and Regulations by the responsible Food
  3. Bringing a behavioral change and inculcating a culture of Food safety

This would be a pioneering step for institute to enter in the field and will have effective interaction between industry and academia. This may create an opportunity to the students of Gokhale institute to work closely with an industry. The institute has a tie-up with the qualified trainers of FSSAI across India.
