Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE) is offering an 11-month Executive Program to help founders launch their firms to the Second Orbit. The premise of the program is to help businesses transit from the First Orbit to the Second Orbit of expansion.

The first orbit is about the founder and the founding team. The founders can grow their business to a certain level through grit and determination, but they max out at a certain point. Businesses at this stage could be profitable and are about Rs. 10s of Crores revenue. Financially, life for the founder is decent, but growth is a toil, and the founders wonder if growth is even worth it. At this stage, both the founder and the business must make changes for the business to scale.

In this course, Dr. Ashok Korwar and Dr. Anand Deshpande propose sharing their experience of working with many companies, including theirs. We propose to help founders acquire essential skills to get the business to the next level. We will also share tools and techniques that the founders can deploy in their own Company’s context to help them create a culture for growth.

We believe that while every Company has a unique journey, there is much we can learn from each other. Therefore, we propose to invite industry veterans who have experienced this transition to participate in the program. Peer learning is crucial, and participants would be encouraged to share their challenges and learn from others in the group.
