Gokhale Institute signs an MoU with Dr Anand Deshpande of Persistent Systems, deAsra Foundation

The Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics has entered into an agreement with Dr Anand Deshpande, Founder and Chairperson of Persistent Systems, Founder of deAsra Foundation, to begin a new partnership with deAsra Foundation.

deAsra Foundation is a non-profit organization which enables entrepreneurs to start, manage, & grow small businesses successfully. To this end, deAsra offers a platform where setting up, managing & growing a small business is made simple & entrepreneur friendly through a broad array of support programs. 

Col. Kapil Jodh, Registrar of the Gokhale Institute, and Dr Deshpande signed the Memorandum of Understanding for launching the “deAsra Centre of Excellence in Nano Entrepreneurship” effective 15th August, within the upcoming Centre for Excellence in Entrepreneurship and Development (CEED) at the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics. The establishment of the deAsra Centre coincides with the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence.

CEED will focus on the larger universe of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and serve as a policy forum engaged in research on small business. Its official launch will be announced soon. 

The deAsra Centre will be exclusively focusing on research, knowledge creation, and dissemination of information related to nano-enterprises in India. Though undefined, nano-enterprises are generally invisible yet crucial enterprises in the hierarchy of enterprises in India. To begin with, it will develop a comprehensive and legally acceptable definition of nano-enterprises. It will then emphasize on policy research and advocacy to create an enabling environment for nano-enterprises in India. 

A diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning community of academics, practitioners, entrepreneurs, experts, and students from around the world, CEED aims at bringing together a host of stakeholders such as academia, policymakers, markets, and the industry to undertake research and training activities with a particular focus on nano-enterprises through the deAsra Centre.
